Tool Storage
Somewhere between a shed and a cupboard. Room for the spades, the strimmer and the mower without a shed sized chunk coming out of a small garden.

The shape is the whole point
Tool storage solves a different problem to a shed. You are not trying to stand inside it, you are trying to reach everything from outside without losing half the lawn. Ours come with cottage windows and a 1ft canopy as standard, so it looks like part of the garden instead of something you hide down the side.
What goes in it
Long handled tools stand up, a push mower or a small petrol one sits in the base, and the shelving takes pots, feed and hand tools. If you are storing a ride on or four bikes you want a shed or a bike shed instead, this is not the one.
Keeping tools dry
Rust comes from condensation, not rain. A sealed box with no air moving through it sweats every time the temperature shifts, which is why cheap plastic ones wreck your tools. Timber breathes, the raised floor stops damp wicking up off the ground, and the canopy keeps rain running off the doors instead of down them. Leave a hand width behind it if it is going against a wall.
Where to put it
Against a fence or wall, and ideally not somewhere it bakes in full sun all day then soaks at night. If it is going down a side return, measure the gate before you order. That is the thing that catches people out most on a Liverpool terrace.
Security
Windowless options and the security pack are worth it if power tools are living in there. Five lever lock, hidden hinges, ground anchor. Insurers treat an outbuilding very differently to the house, so check your single item limit before you assume it is covered.
