A pent shed has a flat roof that slopes from front to back, which makes it brilliant for tight spots. Because the low side can go against a fence or wall, it fits into places an apex shed won’t, and it still gives you good height at the front where the door and windows are. We make this one in more sizes than anything else we sell, from a skinny 4×2 tool store to a 20×10 that’ll swallow a workshop.
Dip treated or pressure treated?
Dip treated has full 12mm tongue and groove cladding in a red cedar colour and is the lower price. It suits a sheltered garden where the shed mostly holds tools and furniture, needs a coat of treatment every year or so, and the timber has a 12 month guarantee against rot.
Pressure treated (tanalised) has thicker 15mm tongue and groove cladding and tanalised framing, with the preservative right through the timber. It has our 10 year guarantee against rot and is the one to go for if you’re in and out every week or the shed is out in the open.

Make it yours
The door can go on the front or either end, and on many sizes you can have the reverse layout with the door on the end and the windows on the low side. Add double doors for wider kit, upgrade to a 60×40mm heavy duty frame if you’ll be hanging things on the walls, and pick a lock and a base if you need one.
Days to installation
Built to order, then we ring you to agree an installation day. Our own installers bring everything and take the packaging away.
Dip or pressure treated?
Dip treated suits a sheltered garden where the shed stores the mower and bins.
Pressure treated suits a shed you'll open most weeks, and it's the build that carries the 10-year rot guarantee.
Planning permission
Usually not needed if the shed is in the back garden, single storey and no more than 2.5m to the eaves.

About this shed
Why choose a pent over an apex?
A pent slopes one way, so the low side can sit right up against a fence or wall. That makes it ideal down the side of a house or along a boundary. If it's going in the middle of the garden and you want headroom in the centre, an apex might suit you better.
What's the difference between standard and tall?
Standard is 6ft at the front sloping to about 5ft 6in at the back. Tall is 6ft 7in at the front sloping to about 6ft 3in, which most people can stand up in all the way through. If you'll be working inside, go tall.
Why do some sizes only come in pressure treated?
Dip treated goes up to 10×8. The bigger sizes need the stronger tanalised timber, so they're only made in pressure treated. The size list on this page changes to show what's made in the timber you've picked.
What does the reverse door position mean?
It puts the door on the end of the shed with the windows along the low side, rather than the high front. It's handy when the high side has to face a fence and you still want light coming in.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. Most sheds are permitted development if they're in the back garden, single storey and under 2.5m to the eaves. If it's within 2m of your boundary the whole thing needs to be under 2.5m high, which every size of this shed is.
What base does it need?
A solid, level surface such as flags, concrete or a timber frame. If your ground isn't level, add our combi base. On a solid base, bearers lift the floor up off the ground and help it last.
How long will it last?
Looked after, a good while. The pressure treated version has a 10 year guarantee against rot. Dip treated needs treating every year or so, and keeping plants and soil away from the bottom makes a big difference to both.
Will you take my old shed away?
Yes, pick the size of your old shed under old shed removal and we'll take it down and take it away on the day we install your new one.
